Professional Geoscientists Ontario’s 2026 Virtual Symposium continues to be an important opportunity for the geoscience community to come together to explore emerging issues in geoscience practice and professional regulation.

The virtual event brings together knowledgeable and experienced professionals to share perspectives on topics shaping the profession today. The Symposium Planning Committee has curated sessions that:

  • A. Explore potential revisions to NI 43-101 and the evolving role of the Qualified Person (QP)
  • B. Provide a closer look at the professional complaints process
  • C. Examine the exercise of independent professional judgment
  • D. Reflect on challenges and opportunities in mentoring and leadership development

This symposium is designed for professional geoscientists, geoscientists-in-training (GITs), geoscience students, other stakeholders in the sector and members of the public who have an interest in professional regulation and the future of the profession. By bringing together practitioners, emerging professionals, and sector stakeholders, this event offers a valuable forum for learning and exchange of ideas.

As an online event, the symposium is accessible to participants across Ontario and beyond. We invite you to join us for these discussions and to take part in advancing professional knowledge and practice in geoscience.
