How do I apply?

Click here to download a checklist of documents needed to apply as a geoscientist-in-training (GIT).

  1. STEP 1: Start by filling out your personal details in the online application form. When asked to “select your membership” at the start of the application, please select “5. Geoscientist-in-training (GIT)”. Please remember to note the application number provided to you and the password that you chose.

  2. STEP 2: Scan/photograph your photo ID and make a redacted copy to be uploaded with your application. If not done at the time of application, it can be emailed to applications@pgo.ca with the heading “Photo ID submission”. Please click here for the redacted ID guidelines.

  3. STEP 3: Provide an official copy of all academic transcripts, which must be sent directly to PGO from the institution or institutions from which you received the degree or degrees. Please click here for the transcript request form. We can accept e-transcripts as long as they come directly from the university. They can be sent to applications@pgo.ca or mailed to our office address, which can be found at the bottom of the page.

  4. STEP 4: For international applications: if you have obtained your education from an institution outside of Canada, you must have a Canadian equivalency evaluation completed on a course-by-course basis by World Education Services (WES). Please click here for the transcript request form.

  5. STEP 5: Provide one character reference. The online application form will provide space to input the name and email address for your referee.

Once all information has been entered into the application form, you can submit your application and pay the application fee. Please note that you also have the opportunity to upload any additional supporting documents that you want to include in your application, such as a thesis outline, course descriptions if necessary or any other reports that you think might be relevant to your application.

The applicant has a duty to monitor the provided email account, including a junk mail folder, for communication from PGO.
