Douglas Cater, President, D.F. Cater Geological Consultant Ltd.
Chair, PGO Complaints Committee

Douglas Cater P. Geo, FGC, is a professional geologist with more than 35 years of experience in the gold mining and exploration business gained while working with senior-tier Canadian-based mining and exploration companies. From January 2016 to January 2019, Mr. Cater served as Vice President Exploration (Canada) for Kirkland Lake Gold Ltd., a Toronto based company with operating mines and exploration projects located in northeastern Ontario and Australia. In early 2019, D. F Cater Consulting Geologist Ltd, was incorporated, as a Consulting Company which conducts property evaluations, technical reports and project management.

Mr. Cater is a Director for Sierra Metals Inc, and a former Director of Cautivo Mining Inc, both which are involved in mining and exploration in Mexico and Peru.

Mr. Cater is an active member of the Association of Professional Geoscientists of Ontario (PGO), having served as the former Council member for SW Ontario, and serves as Chair of the Complaints committee and is a member of the Registration Committee. He is also a Fellow of Geoscientists Canada.



Mike Jones, President and Senior Hydrogeologist, Azimuth Environmental
Chair, PGO Discipline Committee

Mike Jones, P.Geo. graduated in 1987 from University of Waterloo with an M.Sc. in geochemistry and has been a Consulting Hydrogeologist since that time. He worked for Gartner Lee in Markham for approximately ten years before starting Azimuth Environmental in Barrie in 1995. Mike’s areas of specialty include water supply and wastewater treatment, ground water geochemistry and contaminant hydrogeology. Mike joined the PGO Discipline Committee in 2005 and has served two terms as Committee Chair.




Aftab Khan, Registrar, Professional Geoscientists Ontario

Aftab Khan, P.Geo. has thirty-five years of geoscience work experience in the upstream oil and gas industry holding various technical, sales and management positions covering wide geographical regions.

Aftab had been responsible for running regional and country level Exploration & Production (E&P) business operations, which included Geology & Geophysics software sales and support, resource management, team building, mentoring, training, resource development, business compliance and successful implementations. Aftab has an outstanding track record in the domain of E&P Data and Information Management.

Aftab worked for Schlumberger, Halliburton, ADNOC, Landmark Resources, Geophysical Services Inc. and Reliance Geosciences Canada Inc. He worked in Singapore, Indonesia, Netherlands, UAE, Kuwait, Oman, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Iraq, Turkey, Qatar and Canada. He held the positions of VP of Operations, Business Development Manager, Geophysical Advisor and Exploration Strategy Consulting Advisor. He worked in the areas of Seismic Exploration, Geophysical Data processing, Geophysical Interpretation, Wireline Logging, Petrophysical interpretation and Information Management and E&P Data Management. Aftab holds a Master’s Degree in Geophysics.

Aftab joined the team at Professional Geoscientists Ontario 8 years ago. He is currently the Registrar for the organisation, including, leading the Registration team and working diligently on enforcement and compliance.
