ARE YOU INTERESTED IN JOINING THE PGO COUNCIL?

PGO seeks professional geoscientists and members of the public to volunteer for a position on our Council. This is an opportunity to contribute at a strategic level, using your knowledge and expertise to help guide the organization.

The PGO Council is a 20-member board of directors defined by the Professional Geoscientists Act, 2000. The Council governs the activities of the PGO by:
- Planning and setting directions for the regulatory body.

- Monitoring progress and lending advisory expertise on key issues.
- Supporting the role of the PGO as the professional regulator for geoscientists in Ontario.

Over the history of the PGO, many of our registrants have volunteered to serve on Council and their experiences were overwhelmingly positive. We ask that you volunteer some of your time and talent and join your colleagues in serving the public interest through PGO.

This position is open exclusively to registrants of PGO, as defined under the Professional Geoscientists Act, 2000. Eligible individuals must be P.Geo. (Full, Limited, Temporary) registrants in good standing and reside in Ontario.

Recruitment Process
The official recruitment process is administered by the Ministry of Energy and Mines through the Public Appointments Secretariat. All eligible registrants are welcome and encouraged to apply.

To support the Ministry’s process, PGO’s Nominations Committee is inviting expressions of interest from registrants who may wish to be considered. The purpose of this step is to help identify and encourage strong candidates from within the profession. The Nominations Committee will review submissions and share a shortlist of qualified individuals with the Ministry for their consideration.

How to express interest:

Interested registrants are encouraged to submit their CV and a brief statement outlining their interest in the role to the Nominations Committee at nominations@pgo.ca by August 26, 2025.

Please note that being shortlisted by PGO does not replace the formal application process. Setting up your account in advance is recommended, as it will be required during the Ministry’s review of your application: https://www.pas.gov.on.ca
