Call for Volunteers: Discipline Committee
Professional Geoscientists Ontario (PGO) is seeking dedicated and impartial volunteers to serve on its Discipline Committee. As a statutory committee, this is a critical role that directly supports PGO’s mandate of public protection by ensuring the competence and ethical conduct of the profession.
The primary mandate of the Discipline Committee is that it performs the functions assigned to it under the Professional Geoscientists Act, 2000 and regulations.
Click on the Terms of Reference for a full overview of the mandate and responsibilities.
Who Can Apply
PGO is seeking dedicated volunteers, which may include registrants in good standing and/or members of the public (non-registrants), who possess the following critical attributes essential for a statutory committee:
The proven ability to assess complex evidence, apply relevant legislation and standards, and make unbiased findings of fact and law.
An understanding of administrative law principles, procedural fairness, and the Discipline Committee's role in protecting the public interest and upholding the integrity of the profession.
A firm dedication to maintaining the strict confidentiality of proceedings and adhering to rigorous, formal hearing procedures and timelines.
The ability to contribute to well-reasoned written decisions that clearly articulate the Committee's findings, reasons, and any resulting orders or penalties
Commitment & How to Apply
