PGO Welcomes Melanie Siewert as Chief Executive Officer

Professional Geoscientists Ontario (PGO) is pleased to announce the appointment of Melanie Siewert, P.Geo. (Limited), FGC as Chief Executive Officer, effective September 2, 2025.

Melanie’s leadership is anchored in her extensive governance experience at PGO backed by over 25 years of operational and project management expertise from industry. A PGO registrant since 2009, Melanie has previously served on PGO Council as Councillor-at-Large, Vice President, President, and Past President. She has contributed actively to the Governance Committee, Discipline Committee, Nominations Committee, 25th Anniversary Planning Committee, Readiness Assessment Working Group, and the Past Presidents Advisory Committee. Through these roles, she has gained a deep understanding of PGO’s regulatory responsibilities in the interest of public protection.

Complementing this foundation, Melanie brings more than 25 years of experience as a Senior Environmental Geoscientist, Project Manager, Team Lead and Client Liaison leading environmental site assessments, risk assessments, and site remediation projects at over 650 contaminated sites across Canada. This technical insight, informed by practice, strengthens her perspective as CEO by grounding decision-making in the realities of professional practice and the responsibilities geoscientists carry in safeguarding the public and the environment.

It is this combination—governance leadership and technical insight informed by practice—that positions Melanie to lead PGO with clarity, integrity, and a strong commitment to the public interest.
