PGO 2024 CALL FOR NOMINATIONS - COUNCIL ELECTION AND APPOINTMENT


This notice serves as the official call for nominations for PGO Council positions which will become vacant on June 20, 2024, the date of our AGM. There are 3 positions open for nominations for this year’s Council Election and Appointment.

The nomination period will be from March 27 to April 29, 2024. The on-line voting will be open from May 8 to June 5, 2024.

The PGO Council comprises 20 Councillors as defined by the Professional Geoscientists Act, 2000. The Council governs the activities of the PGO, by planning and setting policies, directions and expectations for the regulatory body, monitoring progress, lending their advisory expertise to the issues of the day, and supporting the role of PGO in carrying out its mandate of protecting the public by regulating registered geoscientists in Ontario..

Council Positions by Election

Vice President – This is a progressive three-year term whereby the elected representative will serve as the VP for 2024-2025, President for 2025-2026, and Past-President for 2026-2027. Candidates must have at least one year of experience on Council.

One (1) Councillor-at-Large – Three-year term, 2024-2027. Candidates must reside in Ontario.

To be nominated for Council positions by election, each candidate must submit:

1.  Their signed letter of consent to be added to the slate of nominees and to serve on Council if elected and consent to PGO’s criminal background check process.
2.  A completed Council expression of interest form; and
3. Their completed and signed Nomination Form showing the support of at least of 5 PGO registrants in good standing (a listing of registrants-in-good-standing is available in PGO’s public register at www.pgo.ca. The nomination form is appended to this notice.

Only full practising, temporary, or limited PGO registrants-in-good-standing may be nominated.

Nomination forms must be received by the CEO c/o PGO by email to nominations@pgo.ca by April 29, 2024. Late nominations will not be accepted.

Council Position by Appointment

One (1) Non-registrant Public Appointee to Council – Three-year term, 2024-2027. Candidates must reside in Ontario.
