2024 Awards - Call for Nominations

The PGO is seeking nominations for the three awards described below. This is an opportunity for PGO registrants to be recognized for significant contributions to the practice of geoscience. Non-registrants and members of the public are also eligible for nomination for a Geoscientist Canada honourary fellowship.

This is an opportunity for you to identify individuals that support PGO's primary mandate of public service and protection of the public. Your response is desired, as a robust response to this process strengthens PGO's ability to support our primary mandate.

Nominations are being accepted for the following three awards:

PGO Award of Merit

The Award of Merit is PGO's only direct award. Selection criteria emphasize PGO's primary mandate of public service and protection of the public. The award annually recognizes a PGO registrant that has made significant contributions to geoscience knowledge and/or the geoscience field of practice, and whose actions and accomplishments reflect positively on the geoscience profession.

Nominations Deadline: PGO will accept nominations up to March 15, 2024

Presentation date: June 2024 at the PGO Annual General Meeting

Fellow of Geoscientists Canada (FGC)

The Fellow of Geoscientists Canada (FGC) and Honorary Fellow of Geoscientists Canada (Hon. FGC) are for both PGO registrants and non-registrants, respectively, that meet GC's award criteria. These awards recognize individuals who have contributed noteworthy contributions to the geoscience profession in a variety of categories, including volunteerism and other forms of public service. PGO will forward nominations to GC for evaluation.
