References

An application for practising, limited, and when appropriate, temporary registration must provide a minimum of four references, or validators, in support of their application.

• The first validator must be a practising professional geoscientist registered with a geoscience regulatory body in Canada, or an equivalent foreign organisation.

• The second validator must be either a professional geoscientist registered in Canada, or equivalent foreign organisation, or a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.)

• The third and fourth validators can be anyone who knows the applicant’s work experience well.

Please see our CBA page for more information.

An applicant for the Geoscientist-in-Training (GIT) designation is only required to submit one reference at the time of applying. The referee is attesting to the character of the applicant. If the applicant has completed any geoscience work experience and is reporting that work experience, in the form of a work experience record, the referee may attest to that geoscience work experience if able to do so.

GIT applicants will be asked to submit the name and email address of their referee when completing the application form. Practising, Limited and Change of Designation applicants should follow the instructions for the CBA system. There is no limit to the number of references an applicant can submit. Should you need to submit further references, please use the reference form and send it to your referees, along with your work experience record (where applicable) and instruct them to return the completed form to applications@pgo.ca, with your work experience record if applicable.
