Notice of Annual General Meeting of Registrants

In accordance with By-law 1A, Section 5.02, notice is hereby given of the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the registrants of Professional Geoscientists Ontario (PGO).

 

Date: June 18, 2026

Time:  1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. ET

Venue: Virtual Webinar Meeting

 

This meeting of registrants is held for the purpose of reviewing PGO’s Annual Report, including audited financial statements for the preceding fiscal year and reports from Council and standing committees, appointing the auditor for the upcoming year, and other business matters requiring registrant attention.

PGO’s AGM is conducted virtually to encourage broad access for registrants across the province. Meeting materials, including the Annual Report and agenda, will be provided to all registrants in advance of the meeting date.

Registration information, including the registration link and voting instructions, will be shared on this page and circulated via email in the coming weeks.

PGO 2026 Council Elections - Call for Nominations

This notice serves as the official call for nominations for PGO Council positions that will become vacant on June 18, 2026, the date of PGO’s Annual General Meeting.

 

Nomination Period: March 25 – April 24, 2026

Online Voting: May 6 – June 3, 2026

 

The PGO Council consists of 20 Councillors, as defined by the Professional Geoscientists Act, 2000. The Council governs PGO by setting policies, directions, and expectations, monitoring progress, and supporting PGO’s mandate to protect the public by regulating professional geoscientists in Ontario.


1) Council Positions by Election

?

There are twelve (12) elected Council positions. The following positions will be open for election in 2026:

• Vice-President – A progressive three-year term: VP (2026-2027), President (2027-2028), Past-President (2028-2029). Candidates must have at least one year of experience on Council.

• South West Regional Councillor (Three-Year Term, 2026-2029) – Candidates must reside in South West Ontario.

• South East Regional Councillor (Three-Year Term, 2026-2029) – Candidates must reside in South East Ontario.

Note: Each Regional Councillor must reside in the region they represent at the time of election and during the term of office, as per PGO By-Law 1A, Section 2.04 (c).

 

NOMINATION PROCESS

In accordance with By-law 1A, Section 2.04, only full practising, temporary, or limited PGO registrants-in-good-standing residing in the Province of Ontario may be nominated. Each candidate must submit:

• A signed letter of consent to be added to the slate and to commit to serving on Council if elected, including consent to PGO’s criminal background check process.

• A completed Council Expression of Interest form.

• A completed and signed Nomination Form, showing the support of at least five (5) PGO registrants in good standing. A listing of registrants-in-good-standing is available in PGO’s public register.

• A curriculum vitae.

Submission Deadline: Documents must be received by the CEO via email at nominations@pgo.ca by April 24, 2026. Late nominations will not be accepted.


2) Council Positions by Appointment

?

Council includes 5 (five) non-registrants appointed by Council. As of June 2026, three positions will be open for appointment by Council.

• Two (2) Non-Registrant Public Appointees (Three-Year Term, 2026-2029, Renewable)

• One (1) Non-Registrant Public Appointee (Two-Year Term, 2026-2028, Renewable)

APPLICATION PROCESS

To apply for Council-appointed positions, visit PGO’s Call for Applications page and submit:

• A signed letter of consent to be added to the slate and to commit to serving on Council if elected, including consent to PGO’s criminal background check process.

• A completed Council Expression of Interest form.

• A curriculum vitae.

3) Council Positions by Public Appointment

?

There are three (3) Lieutenant Governor in Council appointees to Council consisting of two registrant positions and 1 non-registrant position.
